Empowered Muslim Women New York was established in 2022, a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the rights and welfare of women and families in New York. This organization seeks to address the unique challenges faced by Muslim women in accessing education, employment, and leadership opportunities, by providing them with tailored support, resources, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Shazia Jabeen
Shazia Jabeen, a well-known artist and founder is deeply committed to promoting the rights and welfare of Muslim women and families in New York area.
Shazia Jabeen is widely regarded as a highly respected and influential figure within her community. Her active engagement with numerous groups and local politicians has been instrumental in elevating the voices of Muslims in local governance and activism.
Her long-standing commitment and contributions have received recognition through numerous awards and honors. Notably, her remarkable service and exceptional work in community participation has garnered her awards and citations from the government.

Become a Volunteer
Many people would like to volunteer to help advance women’s rights. EMWON believes in capacity building for young students and university graduates in the area of women’s and human rights. A number of female students and volunteers have been trained through our internship program so far.
EMWON welcomes individuals who are willing to help promote women’s and human rights in New York.
